UK Sets Wind Record

UK wind-generated electricity hit a new record on Tuesday, when about 4.5 GW of onshore and offshore turbines operated, supplying more than 10% of UK electricity demand. Figures from network operator National Grid show roughly 3.021 GW of grid-connected wind turbines and about 1.5 GW of local network-connected turbines were working, breaking the previous record of 2.8 GW of grid-connected wind farm capacity set on Jan. 15.
