The Australian and Singapore stock ex- changes on Tuesday unveiled sweeteners de- signed to dampen opposition to their proposed merger, which has aroused limited enthusiasm in Singapore and sparked protectionist fears in Australia. Under the new arrangements, the merged exchange would have the same num- ber of Australian and Singaporean directors, and would commit to maintaining operations, assets and key staff in Australia, and to invest in, develop and introduce new products and services in both countries.
