UK energy watchdog Ofgem said on Mon- day it has fined RWE npower ￡2 million ($3.2 million) for "failure to handle com- plaints properly." RWE npower said it has now rectified the problem and is fully com- pliant with Ofgem rules. The regulator is also investigating whether EDF Energy, the UK arm of French EDF, has breached the rules put in place in October 2008 to protect dis- gruntled consumers. Fellow UK Big Six utili- ty British Gas, the retail arm of Centrica, was fined ￡2.5 million in July on similar grounds.
