Devon Energy said it has received approval from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Environment and Water to move forward with the third phase of its 100%-owned Jackfish oil sands project in Canada. Jackfish 3 is expected to produce an average of 35,000 b/d of oil using the steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) recovery method. Devon estimates that the various phases of the Jackfish project will ultimately recover about 300 million bbl of oil.
