Oil prices surged again Thursday on fears that the chaos in Libya may spread to other leading oil producers. Brent crude ran up to $119 per barrel in London, although it subse- quently handed back most of the day's gains. Most of Libya's oil production of 1.5 mil- lion barrels per day was being closed down, amid reports of armed clashes in several cities as forces loyal to Libyan leader Muam- mar Qaddafi attempted to regain control.
