London- and Toronto-listed explorer Seri- ca Energy confirmed on Thursday that it has been awarded an 85% interest in four blocks offshore Namibia. The permit covers Blocks 2512A, 2513A, 2513B and part of 2612A in the center of the Luderitz Basin, an area to- taling 17,400 sq km. Serica is partnered by Namibian state Namcor and Indigenous En- ergy. An initial four-year exploration period will see an extensive new 3-D seismic survey carried out and existing 2-D seismic re- processed. Although Serica says it intends to start drilling identified prospects as early as possible, the first exploration well is not ex- pected for three or four years.
