摘要

Shipping groups have warned that Mideast Gulf oil trade is at greater risk of pi- rate attack now that Somali hijackers have started using large mother ships to extend their reach. In a joint statement intended to congratu- late the South Korean and Malaysian govern- ments for the weekend rescue of two hi- jacked chemical tankers, the Round Table of international shipping associations said the ?°recent use of so-called mother ships, some of them large hijacked vessels ... has vastly expanded [the pirates'] range of operation to encompass much of the Arabian Sea be- tween the Gulf of Aden, Somalia and India.
