Shares in French state-run nuclear operator EDF rallied Tuesday following confirmation from industry minister Eric Besson that a sale of 25% of EDF's output to rivals - forced on the company by the Nome law, designed to reform the power market - will go ahead at ?42 ($60) per megawatt hour, a level requested by EDF but ?7/MWh higher than rivals, mainly GDF Suez, claimed was appropriate.The Nome reforms are due to take effect on Jul. 1, when EDF can charge competitors ?40/MWh for six months until the higher rate of ?42/MWh kicks in on Jan. 1, 2012.
