Uzbeks Spend More on Gas

Uzbekistan plans to spend $783.5 million n the next four years maintaining gas output at four major producing fields in the southern Kashkadarya region, Russia's Prime-Tass news agency quoted an Uzbek government source as saying last week. State-run Uzbekneftegas plans to build new compressor stations and associated infrastructure in the fields - Shur- tan, Kultak, Alan and East Berdakh - which have been under development since the 1970s and produce a combined 48.5 Bcm/yr. The bulk of the investment will reportedly come from foreign and local banks and the rest from Uzbekneftegas' own resources.
