Gould Named as New Chairman of BG Group

Schlumberger Chairman Andrew Gould was named on Monday as the new chairman of BG Group from May 2012, replacing Robert Wilson, who has been in the job since 2004 and had indicated his desire to step down. Gould will stand down as chairman of oil and gas services giant Schlumberger in April 2012. He was both its chairman and chief executive from 2003 until mid-2011 (IOD Jul.22'11). Having joined BG's board as a non-executive director in June 2011, he has signaled he will in May 2012 leave the board of mining group Rio Tinto, of which Wilson was CEO in the early 1990s before taking over as its chairman from 1997 to 2003.
