Yamal Pipeline Under Threat Because of Funding Wrangle

Russian oil companies have yet to agree funding for the strategic Pur-Pe-Zapol-yarnoye line with national pipeline operator Transneft, threatening plans to link fields in West Siberia, East Siberia and Yamal to the existing pipeline network. According to documents released earlier this week by Transneft, construction of the 514 kilometer Pur-Pe-Zapolyarnoye line is supposed to start this year and go ahead in three stages, with the whole scheme to be completed in 2015 (IOD Mar.28,p9).
