China's State Oceanic Administration (SOA) has denied that it or the Chinese government have demanded compensation from ConocoPhillips or China National Offshore Oil Corp. over their Bohai Bay oil spill in the Peng Lai 19-3 field. The SOA said on its website Tuesday that local reports claiming the firms have been asked to pay more than 100 million yuan ($15.7 million) are false, adding that the incident is still being investigated and damages have not been determined.
