Kuwait has produced 2.9 million b/d foralmost two weeks and could soon reachnearly 3 million b/d after steady increasesover the past few months.The production numbers, reported by theofficial Kuwait News Agency, were providedby Oil Minister Mohammad al-Busairi lateMonday, as he tried to assuage fears thathigher oil-sector salaries could hurt the bud-get (IOD Sep.13’11). The minister said rev-enue from the production increases wouldcover the cost of the estimated 183 milliondinar ($663 million) rise in the wage bill.
