Russia is blaming Bulgaria for delays starting work on the 700,000 b/d Bourgas- Alexandroupolis pipeline, designed to pump Russian and Caspian oil from the Bulgarian Black Sea coast to the Greek Mediterranean. In an interview with the in-house magazine, the vice president of Russian pipeline operator Transneft, Mikhail Barkov, said Bulgaria has for more than a year been holding back on its share of the finance for the joint company responsible for building the 285 km pipe.
