Australia's Santos is expanding in the Carnarvon Basin off Western Australia by farming into two blocks in the gas-prone area west of Woodside's Pluto and Chevron's Wheatstone fields. Santos has reached agree- ment with fellow Australian explorer Oc- tanex to take a 75% operating stake in adja- cent permits WA-323-P and WA-330-P. It will drill one well in the first three years of the renewed term of WA-323-P and reim- burse Octanex for seismic and associated ex- penditure in both blocks.
