US Targets Upstream Emissions

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said Tuesday that it has finalized plans to bring oil and gas exploration and produc- tion sites under its national greenhouse gas reporting requirements starting next year. The EPA said the data it collects “will help identify cost-effective ways to minimize the loss of methane,” the primary component of natural gas that acts as a potent greenhouse gas when released into the atmosphere.
