Talisman Opens Oz Office

Canada’s Talisman Energy has opened a new regional office in Brisbane, Australia, as it accelerates developments in Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG). The firm already has a big presence in Southeast Asia, with major projects in Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. It also has oil production assets - all non-operated - in Australia, including stakes in the Laminaria and Corallina fields and the Eni-operated Kitan oil field in the joint petroleum development area between Australia and East Timor. The firm is also conducting exploration in PNG, where it has interests in 12 licenses (IOD Feb.18,p9).
