Anglo-Irish independent Tullow Oil and its partners in Ghana unveiled Monday a third major discovery in the Deepwater Tano Block, continuing the success of the group’s Equatorial Atlantic exploration campaign off West Africa. Tullow’s head of exploration, Angus McCoss, described the find as “very substantial,” with plans to start appraising the so-called Owo field immediately by drilling a sidetrack well east of the discovery to test deeper zones and assess its size. “Accelerated appraisal drilling will now focus on maturing the resources in both Owo and the adjacent Tweneboa accumulation toward commercialization,” McCoss said.
