Marathon Starts Gulf Production

Marathon Oil said Monday that its Droshky development in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico has begun production on time and at cost less than its projected budget of $1.3 billion. Marathon’s production announcement appears to be the first since the US government halted drilling after BP’s well blowout on Apr. 20. The US government has limited offshore oil and gas activity, but focused on drilling. The moratorium allows some activity to continue, including bringing finished wells into production.
