China in Second PNG Deal

A state-run Chinese oil company has signed up to buy 2 million tons/yr of LNG from the Exxon Mobil-led LNG project planned for Papua New Guinea (PNG), according to wire reports. The report follows an announcement last week from PNG LNG project partner Oil Search that a heads of agreement had been signed for the same volume with "a major Asian customer" (IOD Apr.22,p6).
