South Ossetia Gas Flows Resume

Russia on Friday resumed gas supplies to the Georgian breakaway region of South Os-setia after a six-month break. Flows resumed after a damaged pipeline was repaired and local supplier Itera-Georgia, an affiliate of Russia's Itera, was given permission to restart supplies, Georgia's energy ministry said. Around 500 Mcm will be delivered by the end of this month, and will then triple or quadruple, depending on demand, Itera-Georgia General Director Irakly Nikolaishivili was quoted as saying. The region usually uses 1.5 MMcm-2 MMcm a month in winter, he said.
