PetroChina Muscles In on Chinese City Gas Market

PetroChina has embarked on an aggressive expansion of its gas distribution business in a bid to develop an integrated gas division in China. Barely a year after setting up subsidiary Kunlun Gas to consolidate downstream gas outfits operating in China and Hong Kong, the Chinese state giant has muscled into the town gas and local pipeline business in a number of areas, forcing out small independents and eating into the market shares of larger private firms.
