Ecopetrol Sets Investment Plan

Ecopetrol, Colombia's state-controlled oil company, plans to invest $6.925 billion next year as part of an effort to double production to 1 million boe/d by 2015. Of the total amount to be invested next year, more than half, or $3.558 billion, will go to production. Ecopetrol says that spending will raise average output next year to 556,000 boe/d, up 11.6% from a projected 498,000 boe/d this year. Production by Ecopetrol affiliates is projected to total 44,000 boe/d next year, bringing the group's total output to 600,000 boe/d, the company says.
