CNPC Eyes Petro-Canada Assets

State China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) has reportedly made overtures to buy the Syrian and Libyan assets of Petro- Canada, which is being acquired by oil sands giant Suncor for C$19.3 billion (US$15.7 billion) (IOD Apr.3,p4). A report Monday in Hong Kong newspaper the South China Morning Post suggested that CNPC has approached both firms about the deal.
