Australian mining and oil giant BHP Billi-ton said Wednesday that it plans to cut some 6,000 jobs worldwide to cope with slowing demand for its products.The company said the cuts will affect about 6% of its 101,000-strong workforce. In Australia, 3,400 jobs will be lost in addition to 2,000 jobs in Chile and 550 in the US.
