The synthesis and structural characterization of three new mixed d(10) metal pseudohalide complexes with quinoline-N-oxide, namely [Zn(quinoline-N-oxide)(6)][Zn(NCS)(4)] (1), [Zn(quinoline-N-oxide)(mu(1,1)-N-3)(2)](n) (2) and [Cd(mu-quinoline-N-oxide)(mu(N,S)-NCS)(2)](n) (3) are reported. Single crystal structure determination reveals that 1 consists of isolated octahedral [Zn(quinoline-N-oxide)(6)](2+) complex cations and tetrahedral [Zn(NCS)(4)](2-) complex anions. Coordination number 5 around the Zn(II) center is observed in the polymeric chains of 2, where azide groups act in the di-mu(1,1) bridging mode. Honeycomb-like layers are formed in 3, where octahedral Cd(II) centers are bridged by the mu(O,O) quinoline-N-oxide molecules and mu(N,S)-isothiocyanate anions.
