While the single tetrahedral cluster (#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_8[#eta#~5-C_5H_4C(O)C_2H_4CO_2 C_2H_5] (1) prepared from(#mu#_3-S)FeCo_2(CO)_9 and Na[Mo(CO)_#eta#~5-C_5H_4C(O)C_2H_4CO_2 C_2H_5)] reacts with (p-CH_3OC_6H_4)2_TeO (BMPTO) through oxygen transfer reaction to give mono-(p-CH_3OC_6H_4)_2 Te (BMPT)-substituted cluster (1#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_7(BMpT) [#eta#~5-C_5H_4C(O)C_2H_4CO_2C_2H_5] (2), the double tetrahedral cluster [(1#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_8] [#eta#~55-C_5H_4C(O)CH_2]_2 (3) prepared from (#mu#_3-S)FeCo_2(CO)_9 and Na_2[Mo(CO)_3(#eta#~5_C_5H_4 C(O)CH_2)] reacts with BMPTO to afford mono- and bis-BMPT -substituted clusters [(#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_7(BMPT)]_2[#eta#~55- C_5H_4C(O)CH_2]_2(#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_8] (4) and [(#MU#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_7 (BMPT)][#ETA#~5-C_5H_4C(O)CH_2]_2 (5). Similarly, while the double cluster [(#mu#_3-Se)FeCoMo(CO)_8]_2[#eta#~5-C_5H_4C(O)CH_2]_2 (6) reacts with BMPTO to give mono- and bis-BMPT-substituted clusters [(#mu#_3-Se )FeCo Mo(CO)_7(BMPT)][#eta#5-C_5H_4C(O )CH_2]_2[(#mu#_3-Se)FeCoMo(CO)_8] (7) and [#mu#_3-Se)FeCoMo( CO)_7(BMPT)]_2[#eta#~5-C_5H_4C(O)CH_2]_2 (8), reaction of [(#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_8]_2[#eta#~5-C_5H_4C_2H_4)_20] (9) with BMpTO affords corresponding mono- and bis-BMPT-substituted clusters [(#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_7 (BMPT)][(#eta#~5_C0-5H_4C_2H_4)_20][(#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_8] (10) and [(#mu#_3- S)FeCoMo(CO)_7(BMPT)]_2[(#eta#~5-C_5H_4C_2H_4)_20] (II). It is interesting to note that the BMYr ligands in clusters 2 and5 can be selectively substituted by PPh_3 to give mono-PPh_3-substituted cluster (#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_7(PPh_3)[#eta#~5-C_5H_4C(O)C_2H_4CO_2C_2H_5] (12), and bis-PPh_3-substituted cluster [(#mu#_3-S)FeCoMo(CO)_7(PPh_3)]_2[#eta#~5-C_5H_4C(O)CH_2h (13), respectively. The molecular structure of 12 has been determined by X-ray diffraction techniques, which provides the evidence for that the BMPT ligands in those above BMPT-substituted products being attached to the cobalt atoms.
