Asia caprolactam surges on China market gains, strong demand

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Spot caprolactam (capro) prices in Asia extended gains for the fifth consecutive week on firmer domestic prices in China and strong downstream demand, market sources said on Wednesday. The capro price uptrend continued despite the decline in upstream benzene prices this week. Spot prices were assessed at $1,880-$1,930/tonne CFR (cost and freight) China and at $1,850-$1,930/tonne CFR Taiwan on 21 December, according to ICIS data.
