Saudi Aramco Is Seeking a Reduction in the Rates Negotiated for Three Drilling Rigs Leased from Hercules Offshore

In application of the cost reduction policy it announced at the beginning of this year, Saudi Aramco informed Hercules Offshore on 1 June that it was to reduce the daily rates payable under the five-year contracts concluded for the lease of the Hercules 261, Hercules 262 and Hercules 266 drilling rigs. The American company had disclosed in February that it had been notified by Saudi Aramco that it was terminating a drilling contract for the Hercules 261 rig with effect from 27 March. Hercules Offshore added that it was in talks with Saudi Aramco for a possible reduction in the day rates for the Hercules 262 and 266 rigs (AOG, 16 March, 2015).
