Resignation of David Gilo Should Open the Way for the Development of the Leviathan Field

The announcement by Mr. David Gilo, Managing Director of the Antitrust Authority, on 25 May that he would be standing down in August should enable the planned development of the offshore Leviathan field to be reactivated. The operator of the field, Noble Energy, had suspended operations there until the new government of Mr. Benyamin Netanyahu decided whether or not to uphold the earlier decision of Mr. Gilo that Noble Energy and its partner, Delek Group, should be deemed to have a monopoly on the production of natural gas in Israel.
