TGE Marine to Supply MAN Diesel & Turbo with Fuel for Converting the First Q-Max Methane Tanker to LNG

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), Qatargas and RasGas are going to convert a Q-Max class methane tanker to enable it to utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG) in its engines instead of heavy fuel oil. The three companies have contracted MAN Diesel & Turbo (MDT) to handle the conversion of the ship’s engines, which will be carried out at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan operated by Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM). The modified vessel will utilize MAN Diesel and Turbo’s ME-GI (M-type electronically controlled – gas injection) system.
