Budget Surplus Amounted to $17.85 Billion in the First Half of 2014-15, Exceeding that for the Whole of 2013-14

Despite a slight drop in oil revenues as a result of the downturn in oil prices since June, Kuwait’s state budget recorded a net surplus of KD 5,195.2 million ($17.85 billion) in the first six months of the 2014-15 fiscal year (the period from April to September 2014), which was already 4.8% greater than the surplus of KD 4,955.3 million generated through the whole of fiscal 2013-14. The net surplus is calculated after the transfer of 25% of total receipts to the Reserve Fund for Future Generations (RFFG). The sum transferred to the RFFG during the six months in question amounted to KD 3,771.3 million, down from KD 3,955.5 million in the corresponding period of 2013-14.
