EGAS Is Negotiating with Two International Companies for the Import of 12 Cargoes of LNG in 2014

Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) is currently negotiating with two international companies for the import of 12 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) before the end of this year and could sign the contracts around the middle of April, the company’s President, Mr. Khaled Abdel-Badie, told the Egyptian business newspaper Al Borsa on 6 April. One of the companies is to deliver seven spot cargoes this year and continue supplying Egypt with LNG up to 2016, while the other is to furnish five cargoes between now and the end of 2014. Each cargo will consist of 170,000 cu m of LNG, but Mr. Abdel-Badie pointed out that the total volume would not be sufficient to meet the needs of the domestic market.
