The German company Siemens announced a “world first” on 26 May, referring to a mobile 400-kV substation it is going to supply for the dispatch of the electricity to be produced by a 560-MWpower station at Biskra that is being built in two phases by the South Korean company Hanwha Engineering and Construction Corporation. When on stream in 2015, the plant will be operated by the Societe de Production de l’Electricite, a subsidiary of the state power utility Sonelgaz. The mobile substation (pictured) will speed up the power station’s connection to the national grid.
