An Islamist Deputy Close to the Government, Mr. Ali Saleh al- Omair, Has Been Appointed Oil Minister

The government reshuffle that was announced in December, following the resignation of the 15 members of the former Cabinet (AOG, 1 Jan., 2014), and was carried out on 6 January has resulted in seven new ministers entering the government of Sheikh Jaber Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah. Among the seven ministers that resigned were the Oil Minister, Mr. Mustafa al-Shamali, who has been replaced by Mr. Ali Saleh al-Omair, who also has the portfolio of Minister of State for National Assembly (Parliament) Affairs, and the Finance Minister, Sheikh Salem Abdulaziz al-Sabah, who has been replaced by Mr. Anas al-Saleh.
