Masdar Awards Contracts to Abengoa, Degremont, Sidem/Veolia and Trevi Systems for Desalination Projects

Masdar, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi state-controlled Mubadala Development Company that has specialized in green energy since 2008, announced on 5 May that it had awarded contracts to Abengoa of Spain, Degremont, part of France’s Suez Environnement group, Sidem, a subsidiary of another French group, Veolia Environnement, and Trevi Systems of the United States for the construction of seawater desalination plants as part of its pilot project in Abu Dhabi. Each company is to build one plant and all will have different capacities - Abengoa’s 1,080 cubic meters/day, Degremont’s 100 cu m/day, Sidem’s 300 cu m/day and Trevi’s 59 cu m/day.
