Woodside Petroleum Ltd.,of Perth (Australia),brought the offshore Chinguetti field off Mauritania into production as scheduled in February.The field's production is due to rise progressively over the coming weeks to its plateau rate of 75,000 b/d.The development program,which entailed the drilling of six production wells,five water injection wells and one gas reinjection well,cost some US720 million.The field is operated by Woodside Mauritania Pty.Ltd.with a 47.38448% interest.
