Prices of thermal coal produced in China’s key coalproducingShanxi province stabilised in late March as weakercoal consumption and increasing supplies put a cap on theprice rises that occurred from late February.The average Qinhuangdao fob prices of Shanxi coalwith heating values of NAR 4,500 kcal/kg, NAR 5,000 kcal/kg, NAR 5,500 kcal/kg and NAR 5,800 kcal/kg were at 310yuan/t ($47.90/t), Yn345.60/t, Yn385.60/t and Yn405.60/trespectively during 21-30 March, according to data fromChina’s national bureau of statistics. All the prices wereunchanged compared with 10 days earlier. The pricestabilisation followed a rise of Yn0.50-4.40 in mid-February.
