China's coal imports dropped to 22.8mn metric tonnes in February, a decrease of 35.4pc from January, as seaborne markets grappled with oversupply and buying slowed during the lunar new year holidays. February's imports included 8.7mn t of bituminous non-coking coal and 2.4mn t of sub-bituminous coal. The combined 11.1mn t was lower than January's imports of 18.6mn t or a drop of 40.3pc. China also imported 3.5mn t of coking coal, 2.8mn t of anthracite and 5.4mn t of lignite.
