US regulators propose new water protections

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Army Corps of Engineers proposed a new rule that could expand the number of waterways subject to federal Clean Water Act (CWA) regulations. The agencies released a proposal yesterday that clarifes that CWA rules apply to most seasonal and rain-dependent streams as well as wetlands near rivers and streams.
