The cost of moving dry bulk out of the Americas fell last week, as congestion eased at some Latin American ports and US coal exports stalled. Rates out of the US Gulf fell for most vessel types, weighed down by slower US coal exports and an influx of vessels from the south. The arbitrage to move thermal coal from New Orleans to Europe and Asia has tightened considerably over the past six months, and now looks closed to most traders.
