US direct coal markets were mostly flat to lower this week as supply outpaced demand, but prices may be approaching their floor. Xcoal chief executive Ernie Thrasher told an audience at the American Coal Council conference in California on 20 August that US markets have hit bottom and could stay there for the next two to three years.
