Markets steady amid broader gains

US over-the-counter coal prices were mostly steady today amid rising natural gas and European coal swaps markets. Most of the trading activity focused on financial deals for CSX-originated coal and Powder River basin (PRB) 8,800 Btu/ lb coal. A CSX swaps deal for the calendar 2013 strip went three times today at 67 dollars/short ton, the same price as yesterday's physical assessment.
