Mining costs erode TECO Coal profit

TECO Coal's first quarter profit was cut in half from last year by increased mining and transportation costs. Metallurgical coal prices drove up the average net per-ton sales price, excluding transportation allowances, to $81/short ton, more than 6pc higher than first-quarter 2010, said Sandy Callahan, TECO chief financial officer.
