President Barack Obama used a two-day visit to California to highlight his administration's investments in low-carbon energy technology and to push for the passage of major climate legislation this year. Obama toured a solar panel manufacturing facility owned by Solyndra in Fremont today to highlight efforts under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The company received a 535mn dollars loan guarantee last year to support construction of a new manufacturing plant at the site, which Obama said will support thousands of jobs locally and around the country. “There's a ripple effect,” he said.
