At last: national standards for private bushfire shelters

THE NATIONAL Australian Building Codes Board, chose the day before Australia Day, to finally release for public comment, a draft national standard for the design and construction of private bushfire shelters. To say that this was woefully slow, is an understatement, considering it was nearly 12 months after the February 7 2009 bushfires in Victoria. I can't imagine that it should have taken any more than three months to put together a draft code.
