Competition from imports of 6063 aluminum has kept the pressure on the U.S. billet upcharge, especially in areas close to ports, market participants said."We're trying to sell into North Carolina, (and) holy cow it's competitive," one supplier source said."Billet supply is good and I think premiums have softened comfortably," according to one buyer, pegging premium offers as low as 11 cents per pound.
