Rio Tinto trims copper output outlook despite 3d-qtr. gain

Rio Tinto Plc has lowered its full-year mined copper production guidance by an average of 3.5 percent despite recording year-on-year gains in the third quarter and first nine months of 2016.The London-based miner expects mined copper production of 535,000 to 565,000 tonnes this year, down from earlier expectations of 545,000 to 595,000 tonnes. However, refined copper output guidance remains unchanged at 220,000 to 250,000 tonnes.
