NLMK’s US outlook flat for 3d qtr. despite competitive mart

OJSC Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) expects stable automotive and construction demand to result in “flat” operating results at its U.S. operations in the third quarter. That outlook comes despite second-quarter sales at the company’s NLMK USA subsidiary dropping 9 percent to 910,000 tonnes compared with the same quarter last year due to “growing competition” in the U.S. market, the Lipetsk, Russia-based steelmaker said in a July 15 trading update.
