Producers of aluminum deoxidant continue to feel the squeeze of tighter margins as weak steel mill demand and an ample availability of the material pressure prices. “Demand from steel mills has slowed down and some deox makers are dumping volumes to generate cash flow. In this scenario, the lowest price wins,” one producer source said. Aluminum deox sales for May have mostly wrapped up, according to most major producers contacted by AMM. Prices were mostly in a range of 89 to 91 cents per pound, generally unchanged from April, they said.
